Celebrating Local Art at X̱aayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay!

​This time last year, some of the folks at X̱aayda Gwaay Ngaaysdll Naay put out a call for local artists to share their work, for display in our clinic spaces. The intention was simple: to help make the clinic feel more welcoming and comfortable, and to create a more relatable environment in which to receive healthcare.

The response from the community was impressive; the submissions we received were inspiring, beautiful, and deeply reflective of the place we live. We are so grateful to all of the artists who took the time to share their work with us—whether or not their pieces were ultimately selected.
We would also like to thank the group of healthcare providers and support staff who helped review and choose the artwork, as well as place pieces within the clinic space. The care and attention that went into this process helped ensure that the pieces now displayed in the clinic include a diverse and meaningful collection.  A big Haawa to Cairns and his maintenance team who continue to support the framing and installation of the pieces throughout the clinic.
A special thank you to Dr. Mackenzie Moleski, who secured the grant funding that made this project possible.

We would also like to recognize Jags, who generously donated several pieces of his photography, enabling our modest budget to spread to more artists.
It has truly been a community effort, and we hope that as patients, families, and staff spend time in the clinic, they are able to connect with some of the beautiful artists and their work that surrounds us. Much gratitude to everyone who helped make this project a success!
